Ribbed Construction Steel Calibration Design Workshop

Purpose of Education

As it is known, ribbed construction steel, which is a final product in the long product class, is one of the basic education subjects of metallurgy and mechanical engineering; rolling method of plastic forming theory
and caliber design is one of the focus issues of this method.


With this workshop, it is aimed to gain advanced awareness and knowledge about the design of the ribbed construction steel caliber by detailing and simulating the subjects through real examples, in the light of theoretical and practical knowledge, to those who are interested in the subject of caliber design in the production of ribbed construction steel and have received a certain level of training in this field. .

The training is designed to examine various sample designs in depth through a computer-based program, to simulate the real problems experienced by the participants, and will be conducted interactively with the participants.

Education  target

At the end of this training, all participants will have the opportunity to review their existing knowledge, examine and discuss new and different approaches on the following subjects related to ribbed construction steel gauge design, increase their experience level and find the opportunity to solve the problems they experience in their businesses related to the subject:

  1. Layout and caliber design relationship

  2. Comparison of various calibers with each other and selection criteria

  3. Pass life and caliber design relationship

  4. The relationship between operating efficiency (in the perspective of capacity, product range, waste and time usage) and caliber design

  5. Inferences from case studies


Who Should Attend

Chiefs, managers, assistant managers and metallurgical and mechanical engineers who have been and are interested in caliber for at least 5 years in rolling mills producing ribbed construction steel


Of the companies and participants registered to participate in the study;

  1. About 1 month before the workshop date, the participants were sent by METEM to collect their opinions and sample topics that they wanted to be discussed.  “Case/Need Notification Form for Workshop” will be collected back.

  2. No comprehensive training notes will be distributed during the study.

  3. Although the participants do not need a computer during the study, they can bring their laptops if they wish.

He was born in Izmir in 1953, is married and has two children. He also has two grandchildren.

After graduating from Vefa High School in 1970, he graduated from Istanbul Technical University Metallurgical Engineering Department in 1974.

After starting his 42-year career as an Operations Engineer at Etibank A.Ş. in 1974, he first met with long product applications in Çemtaş in 1976 and continued his career at Asilçelik since 1979.

He started to work as a Rolling Mill Supervisor in İzmir Demir Çelik in 1983, and in 2003 he was promoted to Factory Manager in the same company by working at various levels. He continued to work in this position until the end of 2007.

After leaving his position at İDÇ, he worked at Kocaer Haddecilik for about 1 year and lastly continued his career for 5 more years at HABAŞ, where he worked as the Rolling Mills Manager.

By establishing a company called SELUR in 2013, it continues its service in the sector in the supply of ring roller systems and caliber design applications. In addition, there are representatives for the supply of various products that the industry may need.

In his career; With the team under his management, he has signed many firsts:

  • The first 4-slit (2x2 configuration) application in Turkey

  • The first tempcore design and application in Turkey

  • Ring roller application from the only preparation group in the world (Patented)
