Continuous Aluminum Sheet Casting Techniques andQuality Control

Purpose of Education

Aluminum and its alloys find use in almost every field of industry due to their excellent properties. Especially in recent years, environmental problems, problems in energy production and availability have brought the concept of "sustainability" to the agenda of engineers. Aluminum is a sustainable material due to its lightness and recyclability.

Consumption of aluminum sheet products is increasing, mainly in transportation and automotive, construction, packaging and engineering applications. This increase is a driving force both in the design of new alloys and in the development of new production techniques.

However, the production of economical, environmentally friendly and high quality plate and plate products requires very good technical monitoring and control of the process, starting from the supply of raw materials to the shipment of the product.

  • Aluminum production methods,

  • Aluminum and aluminum process alloys as "materials" ,

  • Usage areas and future of plate and plate products ,

  • melting,

  • Molten metal quality,

  • Sheet casting methods and solidification,

  • Casting errors and their prevention,

  • annealing,

  • heat treatment,

  • Energy use and savings in sheet casting ,

  • Control of product quality,

  • It is aimed to share theoretical and practical information on environmental sensitivity issues .

Education  target

At the end of this training, all participants;

  • They will remember the properties of aluminum process alloys,

  • They will have information about the new usage areas of aluminum processing alloys,

  • They will learn the behavior of aluminum and its alloys during the melting and solidification process,

  • They will see the criteria that are important in the selection of raw materials and auxiliary materials in order to make healthy casting,

  • They will learn theoretically the behavior of aluminum and its alloys during the melting and solidification process,

  • They will have an idea about the causes of casting errors,

  • They will have information about the quality control tests applied during and at the end of production,

  • They will be able to understand the casting process as a "whole" and analyze the process.
